Description

To meet the operating needs of our subsidiairies in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and elsewhere, we offer around 100 V.I.E. assignments at any given time in a wide variety of areas, such as geosciences, drilling, processes, operations, R&D, financial control and human resources.

These assignments give you an exceptional opportunity to spend 12 to 24 months acquiring job experience in a foreign country and to support your commitment to pursuing an international career. You'll discover Total, the diversity of our businesses and our career opportunities.

At the same time, we'll assign you real work and, depending on your performance and motivation, may offer you a permanent position within the Group at the end of your assignement.

For this reason, the V.I.E. recruitment process is practically identical to the standard recruitment process at Total, with one difference: as required under French law, your V.I.E. contract will be signed with Ubifrance, the French Agency for International Business Development.

Requirements

Since spring 2001, the National Service Cooperation in Enterprise was changed in Volunteer for International Experience (VIE). This new formula gives, also, to young graduates the opportunity to work for Total subsidiaries abroad. But the contract is between the candidate and Ubifrance, the official body in charge of managing the program.

The conditions of the VIE are as follows :
  • a public status ;
  • open to men and women aged from 18 to 28, who are citizens of the European Union and under obligation to comply with national service regulations in their country of origin if present ;
  • a non taxable payment based on cost living in the country concerned (between 1.087 and 3.399 €uros per month) ;
  • an international medical protection covering assignees ;
  • 2.5 days off each month ;
  • 6 to 24 month contract, which can be extended, provided that the total period does not exceed 24 months ;
  • wordwide opportunities and anyway in a country where the candidate is not a citizen.
