We will obviously guide you throughout the programme as it is important for us that you develop both professionally and personally.
Do you have what it takes? Each year we select up to twelve people for Corporate Management Traineeships. This means strict selection criteria. As well as being a recent graduate from a university or institute of higher vocational education, you also need to be entrepreneurial, a creative thinker, independent and result-oriented. What does our management trainee programme involve?
Introductory period In the first four weeks you'll get to know our various divisions. Nuon produces, distributes and supplies energy, as well as being a trader and grid manager and reading meters. These four weeks will give you an overall idea of our activities. And this knowledge will certainly come in useful later on in your management career.
Assignments During your two-year traineeship you will complete three different assignments. You might manage a project or be assigned to a management support position. Each assignment will last 6 - 9 months, and may also be in Belgium or Germany. It's up to you to find an assignment that suits you. That's a challenge, but also gives you the freedom to choose the position that's best for you. For each assignment, you'll sign a performance contract in which you agree on the results to be achieved
Training You'll spend around 10% of your traineeship attending training courses. Most of these will be with other trainees. These courses are designed to improve your knowledge of the energy world, your management and other skills and competencies such as communications and group processes. As a trainee you'll also have a personal training budget so that you can tailor your training even more closely to your personal needs and development. Most of the courses are given by leading external training organisations in our own Nuon College training centre.
Guidance Obviously you won't be all on your own as a Nuon trainee. We'll make sure someone oversees your day-to-day activities during each assignment. The two of you will also draw up a personal development plan. And a mentor will be closely involved in your development throughout your traineeship. That's because Nuon understands the importance of giving its employees the opportunity to learn and develop.
Procedure You'll hear what the next stage will be within six weeks of applying to the programme. First we'll assess your application form, CV and reasons for wanting to join. The next stage involves completing a series of tests. If you are invited for a third round, you'll have an interview with an HR adviser and a line or other manager. This will be followed by an assessment.
If you are successful, we will offer you a contract.
