The functional fields in the CAReer program


Depending on what the focus of your degree or internships was and where your career interests lies, you can choose to start in one of the following functional fields:

Engineering, Research & Development: High on the list of priorities are, among other things, the vision of accident-free driving, alternative drives, and the automobile of the future. More specifically, we mean, for example, completely redesigning entire model series, running preparatory simulation processes, testing design models, developing prototypes etc.

  • Total vehicle development (passenger cars, commercial vehicles)
  • Optimizing the man-machine interface
  • Production and materials technology
  • Electrics/electronics and intelligent transport systems
  • Software and process technology
  • Energy management

Manufacturing & Related functions: If you have a degree in the engineering sciences, sound technical knowledge, practical work experience, as well as gasoline in your blood, we would love to see your application. Interested in a global production network? Our goal is to synchronize globally networked processes across all locations so as to ensure the smooth running of production processes. The main tasks here involve supporting the product development process, shaping and optimizing production processes, equipment and facility planning, taking process technology and commercial aspects into account, including production equipment manufacturing.

If you have a degree in a technical discipline and enjoy working in a hands-on environment, you will find interesting challenges in Manufacturing & Related Functions.

Sales & Marketing: Based on customer expectations and sound market analyses this is where the basic strategies for customer care, as well as for results-oriented marketing are developed for our brands, vehicles, and services. This functional field is responsible for various tasks, from positioning a vehicle to product launch, to professional sales, to smooth after-sales management.

If you have a degree in economics or industrial engineering, practical work experience in automobile sales, and are enthusiastic about customer care and services, we can offer excellent opportunities to new entrants.

Procurement & Supply: This is where all the procurement functions meet the logistics functions. Networked thinking and forward planning enable a continuous flow of materials.

If you have a degree in engineering or economics and an international background, this is where you'll find diverse, cross-divisional areas to work in.

Finance, Leasing & Banking: Dealers and customers come to us for tailor-made financial services for everything to do with the automobile: from financing to leasing, to insurance and fleet management. Financial Services supports Sales and promotes customer loyalty.

Finance & Controlling: If you have a degree in economics and an enthusiasm for automotive financing, this is where you'll find attractive opportunities in various functions, departments, and countries. Interested in corporate-wide coordination tasks? Controlling works in cooperation with the most diverse corporate units to support complex decision-making processes, from product development to sales, by ensuring corporate controlling has an excellent information basis. In the Accounting, Taxes, and Treasury departments you will be given the opportunity to gain experience in financial accounting and new methods, as well as commercial controlling processes.

New concepts are constantly being developed to ensure networking within the corporation and to increase the efficiency of the corporate value-added chain.

What you should know?

You should have a degree in engineering or economics and have already gained some work experience. In addition, you can identify with our corporate values. Equal opportunities, fairness, honesty, and a collegial working environment are just as important to you as they are to us.

Recruitment Process:

After each step in this standardized selection procedure you will be sent feedback via email so that you know what stage your application is at.

The online test:

  • Duration: approx. 40 to 50 minutes (A link and password will be sent to you by email)

The telephone interview:

  • Duration: approx. 20 to 30 minutes
  • This is where we make contact personally for the first time by sending you a standardized questionnaire.

The assessment center:

  • Duration: 1½ days
  • You will get to know the company better and we want to find out whether your next step could be to start on the CAReer program.

After successfully negotiating the selection process we will arrange with you when you will start your 12-18-month CAReer trainee program. As a Trainee you will be offered a permanent, local contract for the job you applied for - and a full salary. After completing the program there's nothing stopping you starting work in your target area.
