Our systems need to be efficient to deliver maximum business benefit. We are looking for you to provide innovative technological solutions to support our business strategy to enable market innovation and to provide growth through our technology. We are looking for you to assist Centrica in being an industry leader.

To help you understand the scale of our IS environment, we:

  • Support more than 50m transactions every day
  • Have more than 30m customer accounts
  • Need 700+terabytes of data storage (that's the equivalent of over 58m phone books), Europe's largest SAP and Siebel implementation for billing and customer relationship management

We want graduates with a wide range of skills, not restricted to purely technical capabilities.

We're looking for graduates who have the ability to present complex ideas clearly and simply. Relationship management is key as you’ll be communicating with a variety of audiences including directors, business partners, third parties and offshore colleagues. You'll also be expected to initiate, deliver and manage change across the organisation.

Examples of placements

  1. Year 1

When you join the programme, you will begin with a one-week graduate induction and a further week of specific IS training. Your first year will then combine extensive technical and business aligned training with six-month placements in our service delivery and business teams.

  2. Year 2

Your second-year role is based on three criteria: your aspirations, our business needs, and your performance. Placements will have a business, technical and project management focus.

You could be working on a specific project in a business unit, assisting with our engineers' gadgets or negotiating licence agreements for our software. You could be involved in designing a virtual solution and implementing applications in this environment or negotiating contracts with third-party suppliers for new applications. You could be creating an intranet portal or designing and delivering an absence management tool.

Managing the delivery of 42 new user accounts complete with access of up to 30 different applications for an offshore project could be your next task or developing software for British Gas engineers’ mobile devices.

In parallel, you will attain recognised project, analysis, technical and commercial accreditations, which include PRINCE2, ISEB Diploma, ITIL and Six Sigma.

You may also have the opportunity to be considered for an international placement at Direct Energy, our North American energy supplier.

If this is the path you choose to take, you will be expected to go through an interview process to assess your performance and suitability.
