Description

Our scientists always have an eye on tomorrow’s needs and constantly seek new solutions, whether in bioscience, chemistry, polymer or materials science. They are key to our philosophy of providing Tomorrow’s Answers Today.

Research & Development is vital when it comes to making sure we meet customer demand and stay ahead of the competition with the products we offer.

You’ll have the chance to work in either a management or purely technical capacity. Working in partnership with our scientists you’ll be asked to solve real problems and contribute to our success.

You might be asked to develop and improve existing products, evaluate our competitors’ products, liaise with raw material suppliers or supervise factory trials – R&D covers so many areas. As you grow into your role, you’ll be given more responsibility for continuous improvement, project development and implementation.

Examples of placements

Other entry-level positions: Researcher, Process Development Engineer and Project Manager.

Requirements

We want tomorrow’s leaders, the next generation of high-fliers. If you’ve got talent, ambition and determination, AkzoNobel can offer you a career that both challenges and rewards.

Basics

You’ll need to speak English fluently – we may be a global company, but it’s our universal business language. You’ll also need to be eligible to work non-restrictively throughout the EU for European jobs. Some work experience would be great, too.

Qualifications

We’ll consider you for most roles no matter what your degree subject – as long as it’s at least a 2:1 in the UK or equivalent in Europe, the USA and Asia. But some jobs do have specific academic needs, so it’s vital to check that you meet the criteria. View our current list of graduate, placement and internship vacancies.

Personal Qualities

At AkzoNobel, we expect you to work hard – just as you expect us to help you fulfill your potential.

So you’ll need to show drive and initiative, have an open mind and a mature attitude. We want confident people who can think strategically, communicate well and work as part of a team, even under pressure.

Together, the company and you will continue to enhance your strengths in these areas. The six competencies are:

  • Results Orientation
  • Customer Focus
  • Quality Commitment
  • Innovation
  • Teamwork
  • Commitment to Values

We also want to know why you’ve chosen us and why you’re the best person for the job.

Study background for R&D: Chemistry or chemical engineering.
